The world fell apart after the "Great Fall". The fabric of reality is eroded by a metaphysical thing called "dust." Memory, matter, and even the laws of physics themselves are slowly and irreversibly dissolving.
The surviving humans huddle in giant cities called "fortresses" and rely on the "reality anchors" left over from the old era to survive. Outside the fortress is an endless "grey realm" of forgotten history and aberrant monsters.
Lin Chuan, a "relic scavenger" at the bottom of the fortress, had to accept a near-death commission in order to raise life-saving medicine for his sister who suffered from "melting disease" - to go deep into the gray area to find a "coordinate" forgotten by history.
His only reliance is a strange compass on his body that no one can understand and whose pointer is always swinging wildly.
However, when he stepped into the dead place where even light was distorted, he gradually realized that "dust" was not a simple disaster, but a "language" of a higher dimension. And he seems to be the only one who can "hear" and understand this language.
The truth of the world is far more cruel than survival itself. Is what is covered up in the dust a lost golden age for mankind, or a terrifying secret that can drive everyone who knows it crazy?
