Dust of the Abyss

After the “Annihilation,” the world was shrouded in gray mist. The civilization of old became rust-covered remains, rotting amid the snarls of monsters known as “Mutants.” Humanity huddled inside the last fortress cities, scraping by on “relics” unearthed from the previous civilization.

Lin Chuan, a relic recovery agent on the lowest level of the Seventh Fortress, races death in the gray mist to bring scraps from the old world back for the upper classes. He is used to the metallic tang in the air, to his companions vanishing silently beside him, and to a sky where he can never see the stars.

Until one day, deep in the ruins of a place long since forgotten, he discovers something that should not exist: a brass compass, untouched by dust or decay.

Its needle does not point north or south.

It points toward the abyss.
