In late spring in the south of the Yangtze River, the mist is thick, and Li Lianhua is drifting leisurely in the Lotus Tower, living a life of cooking soup for healing and not caring about the disputes in the world. By chance, he rescued Xiao Lie in the reed swamp, who was falsely accused of killing Zhang Yuanwai's family and was being hunted by the police. Xiao Lie holds half a jade pendant engraved with the word "Liu" and accuses the Liu family of Jiangnan to frame him for business. He is determined to go to Jinling City to find the upright Yushi Shen to submit evidence and avenge his injustice.
Li Lianhua had no intention of getting involved in the dispute, but because of Xiao Lie's persistence and the Liu family's arrogance, and because she happened to need to go to Jinling City to purchase medicinal materials, she proposed to go with them. On the way, the two met Su Muzhe, the son of the Su family in Jinling, who was besieged by men in black at a moonlit ferry crossing. Su Muzhe was here to investigate the Liu family's movements and was also suspicious of Zhang Yuanwai's murder. Li Lianhua played the flute to help Su Muzhe fight off the enemy. Because of the common connection between the Liu family and Zhang Yuanwai's case, the three decided to go to Jinling together.
Along the way, Li Lianhua's medical skills, worldly experience and hidden abilities gradually emerged, while Xiao Lie's tenacity and Su Muzhe's chivalry supported each other. They not only have to avoid the pursuers set up by the Liu family and checkpoints along the way, but also need to work with Shen Yushi to find out the truth behind the Liu family's frame-up of Xiao Lie and the murder of Zhang Yuanwai after arriving in Jinling. Li Lianhua, who originally just wanted to live a stable life, was once again involved in a dispute between the rivers and lakes, and a battle surrounding justice, truth and the morality of the rivers and lakes also slowly kicked off with the three people's trip to Jinling.
