The story follows Ye Fan, beginning from an ordinary, even despised, starting point. When monsters run rampant and his village is massacred, he is forced to set out on a journey. This is no simple hero’s journey, but a grueling trial full of obstacles, doubts, betrayal, and self-doubt. He will find divine artifacts and encounter love, but more importantly, he will face the darkness within himself. Through agonizing choices, he will come to understand the true meaning of “protecting others,” ultimately rising from the small love of “protecting one person and one village” to the greater duty of “protecting all living beings.”
