The One Who Always Picks on Me Is the One Lan An Has Been Waiting For

Also known as: The Blue Gum Tree’s Promise

[Reunion after years apart / Campus / One-on-one romance / Happy ending]

As a child, Yin Yiyu was sent to live with his grandmother because his parents were busy. Lonely and taciturn, he often sat alone in the courtyard. When he first met Fang Shiheng, who had fallen from a tree branch, he kindly tried to help, only to be snapped at: “Mind your own business.”

They met again beneath the blue gum trees on the hill behind the school, where their misunderstanding faded and a bond gradually grew between them. The tree became their private hideaway, filled with childhood memories, as they shared a warm stretch of time together.

An argument sparked by a misunderstanding left apologies unspoken. When they parted, those words sank into silence and became a regret neither could let go of for years. Then, after all this time, they meet again…

Old feelings surge back and affection rekindles. It turns out the boy who once snapped at him had always been the one the blue gum tree was waiting for. Their feelings were hidden in the little moments of the past; their misunderstandings slowly unravel, and their love comes to light. At last, they hold hands and stay together, fulfilling the promise beneath the blue gum tree that they never got to keep.
