Huang Liang Meng began to lose the ability to tell dreams from reality. Details that matched her dreams kept appearing in her life: a news story about unexplained bloodstains found in an abandoned home, in a place much like the old house in her dream; a casual argument with a classmate that uncannily resembled the circumstances behind the first person she killed in her dream; and a faint scratch on her wrist that she couldn't remember getting, in the very spot where she'd been scraped while dragging "something" in her dream.
She began investigating in secret, while her relationships with the people around her grew increasingly strained.
It was as if she were trapped in a nightmare she could never wake from, with the boundary between reality and dreams completely blurred.
She decided to return to the "old home" in her memories to seek the truth, only to find that it had long since been demolished and replaced by a construction site awaiting development. In a corner of the site, she really did find an abandoned old-fashioned toilet, almost identical to the one in her dream...
At last, after a series of mysteries, pursuits, and psychological games, the truth was gradually revealed. The ending might be open-ended: Huang Liang Meng finally broke free of the manipulation and recovered some of her true memories, but everything she had gone through had changed her forever. Or perhaps she would discover that even this ending, where she "broke free of the manipulation," was itself another, more cleverly constructed "dream." Just like the fleeting dream of Huang Liang, perhaps it was always impossible to tell what was real and what was not.
