As suspicion and conflict between nations escalate, World War III breaks out. Countries deploy massive numbers of nuclear weapons, bringing on a global nuclear winter and bringing civilization to the brink of collapse. National governments disintegrate, replaced by “conglomerates” built on control of technology, military power, and resources. After the nuclear winter, radiation and mutated plants and animals become commonplace, and human living conditions deteriorate drastically.
To confront the threat of mutations, humanity develops “gene serums.” Those who awaken extraordinary abilities through their genes are known as “gene warriors.” They become the conglomerates’ main force for maintaining order and exploring the wilderness.
The protagonist, Guo Yue, was originally a wasteland hunter scraping by in the lower levels of District B. His true identity is Yang Haoguang, a former special research operative who escaped HDTUR (High-Danger Technology & Unstable Research) three years ago. He suffers from a rare organ failure disorder caused by the A8JS-W cell virus and must rely on gene serums to stay alive. During a hunting mission, he meets Jian Ye, a rugged-looking man with a soft heart, and gradually gets drawn into a vast conspiracy involving conglomerates, mysterious organizations, and unknown mutated creatures...
