In 20XX, the "Red Stone Virus" swept across the world. 90% Of humans mutated into bloodthirsty zombies and aberrations. Skyscrapers were reduced to ruins, and civilization collapsed amid roars. The surviving humans are huddled in the "survivor stronghold". What they rely on for survival is not guns and food, but a strange existence called the "Metal Slug System" - it releases "script missions" every month, and the content completely reproduces the levels of the "Metal Slug" series of games, from jungle infiltration to space decisive battles. Each level is a mirror image of life and death in the apocalypse.
Players form a team to enter the "scripted world" and need to follow the main line to complete the core goals (such as killing the boss at the end of the level and destroying the enemy base). They can escape from the side lines but cannot deviate from the core of the plot. There is no game currency renewal here. Being eaten by zombies and being bombarded by BOSS is eternal death in reality; if the mission fails, the resources of the stronghold will be halved. If you fail three times in a row, you will be marked by the system, attracting a devastating siege by high-level aberrations.
