The story takes place in Neo-Arcadia, a typical cyberpunk city. The protagonist K is a "memory stalker" who uses technology to sneak into the brains of the deceased and extract residual memory information for profit. K encountered an unexpected situation when he was anonymously commissioned by the giant enterprise "Yuan Yi Group" to sneak into the brain of its late senior researcher Dr. Yaris Thorne in an attempt to steal a research data model.
He did not find traditional data, but found a huge, dead "black sun" that could swallow all memories in the ruins of Thorne's consciousness. When trying to download this weird spiritual imprint, Black Sun launched a counterattack and forcibly implanted a piece of unknown and contaminated data deep into K's consciousness.
