Kanze (170-243), courtesy name Derun, was born in Juzhang, Kuaiji County (now Ningbo, Zhejiang). He was a famous scholar and politician in Soochow during the Three Kingdoms period. He was born in a humble family, and when he was young, his family was poor and he copied books to study. After reading a lot of books, he traveled around and became proficient in classics, astronomy, and calendars. During his official career in Wu, he rose to the rank of Crown Prince, Taifu, and Zhongshu Ling, and won the trust of Sun Quan. During the Battle of Chibi, he saw through Zhou Yu's plan and risked his life to go to Cao's camp to present a fraudulent letter of surrender and achieved great success. Before the Battle of Yiling, he strongly recommended Lu Xun as the governor and made great achievements again. In his later years, he returned to his hometown and founded Derun Academy, donated his house and built Puji Temple to promote education and promote the cultural development of eastern Zhejiang. He is the author of "Qianxiang Li Zhu" and other works, and also contributed to the study of pi. His academic thoughts have far-reaching influence, and he is a model in Chinese history for poor students to change their destiny through diligent study.
