My Tomb-Raiding Notes: Personally Written by Wu Xie, from The Grave Robbers' Chronicles

My name is Wu Xie. I’m on my way to Da Jinya’s place, where I’m about to see that Warring States silk manuscript hiding a secret.

I remember everything.

I remember the dangers of the Seven Star Palace, the uncanny strangeness beneath the Xisha Sea, and the avalanche at the Heavenly Palace on the Clouds… Most of all, I remember A Ning’s death, Pan Zi’s death, Third Uncle’s disappearance, and Little Brother’s departure. Those searing pains churn in my mind day and night. Now I’ve been given a chance to start over.

This time, I’m no longer that naive Wu Xie.

When faced with Da Kui’s greed, I warn him in advance. When the corpse beetles swarm us, I remember to use fire. When the fake Third Uncle tests me, I leave no opening.

Fatty claps me on the shoulder. “Tian Zhen, you’re pretty good! You know even more than Third Uncle!”

Little Brother watches me with a hint of curiosity in his eyes, because I always manage to hand him exactly what he needs at the crucial moment.

I have a System, but no divine powers. All I have are those fragmentary memories and a heart determined to protect everyone.

I’ll save A Ning and let her see a different world. I’ll make sure Pan Zi walks out of the Zhang Family Ancient Mansion alive, and gets to live for himself for once. I’ll find Third Uncle and ask him why. And at that bronze door, I’ll stop the man named Zhang Qiling and tell him, “This time, let me do it!”

My notes will no longer be a record of blood and tears. They’ll tell how all of us walked into the sunshine with smiles on our faces.
