Modern young man Lin Yan transmigrates to the cultivation world with the mysterious jade pendant Xuanyuan Pei, which contains an ancient remnant soul and an upgradeable pocket dimension for spiritual plants. Starting as a menial disciple of the Qingyun Sect, he cultivates rare spiritual herbs with the help of his pocket dimension and finds a way forward despite the scarcity of spiritual energy. He first shows his potential in the Outer Sect assessment, breaks through after comprehending the sword at the Cliff of Reflection, and obtains a Foundation Establishment Pill through an adventure in a cave abode.
After joining the Inner Sect, he chooses the overlooked path of spiritual plant cultivation. With the Silk-Binding Sword Art and precise control of spiritual energy, he defeats one powerful foe after another in the sect's tournament, astounding the four sects with his early Foundation Establishment cultivation. When others plot against him over the spiritual fields, he deftly outmaneuvers them. He wins an elder's favor and cultivates a unique spiritual plant: Golden Marrow Rice.
In a cultivation world where the strong prey on the weak, Lin Yan makes spiritual plants his foundation and swordsmanship his edge, advancing one careful step at a time. From a menial disciple anyone could bully to a spiritual-plant sword cultivator renowned throughout the Inner Sect, he carves out a unique path to immortality in his own way.
