Lin Zhou, a college student who has "display" engraved into his DNA, takes a veteran cadre thermos handed down from his grandfather and is determined to spend four years at Ivy League University where he can eat and sleep freely. Fishing, being in a daze, and drinking wolfberry and chrysanthemum tea formed the entire focus of his life, until something called the "Salted Fish Life System" appeared out of thin air - other people's systems rewarded dazedness, fishing, and refusal to get involved.
As a result, Lin Zhou's campus life became more "leisurely": he exchanged system points for fishing bait, secretly completed the "fishing" task in class, made jokes with his funny roommate Fatty Wang who occasionally had fits, and formed a wonderful dormitory combination with his taciturn roommate who was a top student and a roommate who was a technical geek who was addicted to coding. There is no dramatic plot, no bloody love entanglements, only slow daily life, just the right humor, as well as the friendship that quietly grows in the mess and the small luck that belongs to salted fish.
This is a story about how to use system assistance to turn a university campus into a retirement life. After all, for Lin Zhou, catching a fish is much more important than saving the world.
