In 1975, in the Northeast Corps, Lu Xiangyang, a graduate student of the Modern Academy of Agricultural Sciences, traveled through time and became Lu Xiangyang, an educated youth who had just gone to the countryside. The educated youth lived in a leaky spot and had to eat corn. He had to go to the fields with the commune members to earn work points. However, he had poor physical strength and his hands were worn out on the first day. Looking at the large areas of idle wasteland and low-yielding wheat fields in the Corps, he recalled the "cold-land crop improvement" technology he had studied in his previous life, and decided to start with "saving effort and increasing yields": first doing "simple drip irrigation" (using plastic sheets and bamboo tubes for water-saving irrigation), and then teaching everyone about seed selection (picking seeds with full grains to increase the germination rate), so as to increase the yield per mu of the small experimental field he was responsible for by 10%. Faced with the rejection of the old educated youth (who said he was "opportunistic") and the suspicion of the team leader, he used his output to speak for himself. Later, he helped the Corps to engage in "greenhouse seedling cultivation" (cultivating vegetable seedlings in advance to solve the shortage of spring and summer vegetables), and taught fellow villagers to use "straw to the field" to improve black soil. From an "educated youth" who had no power to tie a chicken, to "Xiang Yang" who was admired by everyone in the Corps for his agricultural skills, he used knowledge to turn his hard life into the hope of "Xiang Yang" in the Great Northern Wilderness in the 1970s.
