In the rural northwest in 1962, Chen Jianguo, a modern agricultural student, traveled through time and became Chen Jianguo, a hungry boy - his father died young, his mother was frail, he had two younger siblings to feed, and his mean aunt always came to snatch the remaining sweet potatoes at home. He didn't even have a full meal at the beginning, but he relied on the knowledge of modern agriculture in his mind to break the situation: first, he secretly carried out "dense planting and seedling cultivation" in his own backyard, so that the corn yield was 20% higher than that of other families; he also used plant ash to improve the saline-alkali soil, and the potatoes he grew could be used as "life-saving food."
