After thirty-six consecutive hours on duty, resident doctor Lin Tian faints. When he wakes, he discovers he has transmigrated to an unfamiliar ancient world.
Penniless, with nothing but bare walls at home and a mysterious wound on his forehead... Facing this hellish start, Lin Tian despairingly realizes that the modern medical knowledge he spent years studying is utterly useless here, and might even be condemned as heresy.
His only skills? Eating, and the grilling techniques he picked up by watching the barbecue stall behind the hospital!
To keep from starving to death, Lin Tian steels himself and rolls up his sleeves:
No chili peppers? Sichuan pepper will do!
No cumin? Fennel will have to do!
No grill? He'll draw up a design at the blacksmith's!
“Come on over and have a look! Lin Family Grilled Skewers: buy five, get one free! If they're not delicious, you don't pay!”
And so, a strange charcoal-grilled aroma drifts through the streets of another world. The spicy, pungent flavor conquers ancient palates, and the juicy, tender skewers become the latest legend of the marketplace.
Yet just as his skewer business takes off, his old medical profession keeps coming back to the fore: he soothes customers who've eaten something bad, treats the wounds of a coworker who's been burned, and even ends up examining an important figure for a “private ailment”...
The name “Divine Doctor Lin” spreads far and wide, becoming just as famous as his nickname, “Skewer Lin.”
He only wants to quietly run a little barbecue stall, but trouble keeps coming: jealous competitors, thugs looking for a fight, curious nobles, and even mysterious diners from the palace...
Watch how one hapless modern resident doctor, with cumin and chili powder in one hand and surgical needles in the other...
