In 1930 in Peiping, when the talented Shen Shuyao was teaching in a school, she met the young marshal Zhang Xueliang (pseudonym: Zhang Hanqing) who came to Peiping for inspection. Zhang Xueliang was moved by Shen Shuyao's talent and patriotism, and Zhang Xueliang also took actions to protect her from the war.
