An Old Dream, a Sunken Boat

In the eighteenth year of the Republic of China, I was forced to marry the frail second young master of the Ji family to bring him good luck.

As the wedding candles flickered, his icy fingers brushed my cheek. “This house devours people. Don't trust anyone.”

Even though I was cautious at every turn, I still fell into a trap and was accused of having an affair with the tutor.

On the day the clan leader ordered me punished according to family law, he suddenly charged into the ancestral hall and scooped me up.

Everyone cried out, “Second Master Ji, your illness, ”

He smiled, his expression edged with menace. “Keep pretending, and you'll chew my wife's bones to pieces.”

Later, after taking control of the family, he pinned me before the ancestral tablets.

“I've cleaned up the Ji family's filth. Now it's time to clear your name.”
