"The Hard Life of a Village Wife" is a rural ethics novel.
The novel tells the story of the changes in Chinese women's thoughts during the development of China's reform and opening up. Amidst love and hatred, they are unable to escape the strange circle of Chinese ethics.
Chunni in the novel was forced by her parents to exchange relatives and marry a fool from a nearby village. She chose to escape and fight against this unfair marriage arrangement, but she didn't know how to fight. She finally silently accepted the arrangement of fate. But after becoming a mother, she unknowingly followed the path of her parents again. Whether it was love or hate, she couldn't tell clearly, and finally passed away in tears, ending her life.
