The story takes place in a different world called "Jiuzhou", which is the crossroads connecting "all the worlds". In ancient times, a "War of the Fallen Gods" led to the collapse of heaven. The old gods either fell or fell asleep, and the new gods established order on the ruins. However, conquests between the worlds continued and the avenues were incomplete.
