Introduction to the work
On the day when the first snow covered Wutong Lane, Su Nian ran into another side of Jiang Xubai at the back door of the studio.
The gentle young man who once squatted on the ground to help her pick up erasers and quietly put hot milk next to the easel suddenly turned violently red in his eyes and pressed him against the brick wall, his tone icy. It wasn't until he held his head and gasped in pain, and his peach blossom eyes became clear, that he showed a confused apology. The accident when he fell down the stairs to get her painting supplies not only shattered time, but also knocked out the second personality called "Xu" in his body.
A sketch of a stolen silhouette, with the words "Don't let her be afraid" blurred by the snow on the back; the new paint box handed out under the streetlight late at night still had the warmth of the young man's palm; when he turned around, he was forced back by "Xu" with cold eyes, and the words "He can't give you what you want" were like a sharp knife piercing his heart.
Light and shadow are intertwined on the painting paper, and tenderness and violence are torn in the same body. Su Nian held the paintbrush he gave her, looking at the two sets of footprints that were always staggered in the snow, and finally understood: this heartbeat that started in the studio was never a simple love, but about finding the light of mutual redemption in the cracks in personality.
When the gentle man said "Wait for me" in the dark, and when the violent man whispered "Don't come" when he turned around, she stood at the fork in time and chose to use a paintbrush to outline the line connecting the two souls - even if she had to travel through the coldness of countless snowy nights, she still had to wait for the original Jiang Xubai to walk towards her again from the mismatch of light and shadow.
