The Art of Being a Fall Guy
Office worker Lin Xiaoman accidentally gets bound to the Villain’s Fall Guy System. He’s ordered to make Gu Lin, the obsessive protagonist of a novel, die in an accident within 30 days. The System promises that completing the mission will earn him a fortune worth billions, while failure means being erased.
Lin Xiaoman touches the bulletproof vest and lucky dice awarded by the System, then practices a wicked smile in the mirror. “Gu Lin, oh, Gu Lin, your life is mine~” Lin Xiaoman carefully plans an incident involving a falling object, but miscalculates and gets pulled into Gu Lin’s arms, escaping the flowerpot. Gu Lin narrows his phoenix eyes and leans close to his ear. “You there, your heart is racing.” The System’s alarms blare: [The protagonist’s obsession level has increased by 10%. Host is advised to flee immediately.]
Later, Gu Lin is caught secretly adding sleeping pills to Lin Xiaoman’s coffee. Lin Xiaoman waves the bottle threateningly. “Keep this up and I’m running away from home!” Gu Lin silently produces a collar covered in diamonds. “Then... could you at least take this with you?” The System trembles in a corner: [Both the Host and the protagonist have completely lost it!]
Mutual salvation: Two troubled souls find a balance between scheming and sincerity.
Character highlights:
- Lin Xiaoman: A drama queen on the outside, a coward underneath. He’s put all the System’s functions into escape skills.
- Gu Lin: His obsession level is maxed out, yet he secretly tucks blankets around his beloved. When he turns dark, roses appear as special effects.
- The System: It goes from a cool, aloof AI to a lazy couch potato saying, “You two do whatever you want. I’m done.”
