Palace Intrigue: The Consort Rose to Power Through Her Dark Transformation

A modern corporate legal expert is transported into the body of a cannon-fodder villainess in a palace-intrigue power fantasy. She decisively abandons the original story’s lovesick mindset and uses her professional skills and modern thinking to go from pawn to player, stirring up turmoil in the imperial court and inner palace. In the end, she has the unhinged emperor, the male second lead who is everyone’s idealized beloved, and the rest of the cast dancing in the palm of her hand, before rising to the pinnacle of power.

Core hook: A modern working woman uses her superior knowledge to crush an old-fashioned palace-intrigue plot. The motto is “Use expertise to build your career, and brains to play the palace game.” It turns the usual tropes on their head, and it’s immensely satisfying.
