Shen He, a doctor of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine, was unexpectedly reborn as a distant orphan from the Jia family. With modern medical knowledge and traditional Chinese medicine dialectical thinking, he stepped into this Rongguo Mansion full of poetry and destiny. She is well aware of the tragic ending of "Dream of Red Mansions", but is unwilling to sit back and watch Daiyu coughing up blood and Baoyu indulge in having fun. She did not persuade Baoyu to take a scientific examination, but only led him to read the "Compendium of Materia Medica", teaching him to identify medicinal herbs and remember the taboos for taking medicines - Baoyu boiled ginger and brown sugar water for Jia Mu and boiled medicine for Daiyu, and gradually lost his stubbornness. She used herbal poems to talk to Daiyu, and the understanding that "love is about mutual protection rather than obsession" gradually resolved Daiyu's sensitive depression.
The whole book respects the core plot and characters of the original work. Key nodes such as the flower burial, the inspection of the Grand View Garden, and the fall of the Jia family remain unchanged, and the ending ends like the original work. Shen He's efforts never intended to "subvert", but only used the power of medicine to alleviate the pain: to make Daiyu less painful to cough up blood when she died, to give Qingwen a bowl of warm lily soup before she died, and to let Baoyu know how to "protect" instead of "escape". In the end, her figure disappeared in the south of the Yangtze River, leaving only a copy of "Medicine Fragrance Poetry Notes", which confirmed this "can save the disease, but not the life" of the Red Mansion medical relationship, adding a subtle but warm background to the fate of "all beauties share the same sorrow".
