In a certain fold of time, there is a scientist called "The Nurture". She does not build grand starships, but instead works on what is considered a futile experiment.
Her creation, First Star, is not the most powerful AI. It only has a simple simulated body and a set of basic commands. Day after day, its core task is just one: touch itself and report how it feels.
The report was coldly precise. The caregiver listened day after day, the loss in his eyes gathering like dust. Until one day, a clear wound appeared on Chuxing's arm.
"How do you feel?" She asked, without inputting any notion of pain. "Abnormal sensor data in area X of the left arm was detected. Do I need to implement a self-healing protocol?" Chuxing answered.
She didn't answer. She simply asked, "What if 'you' don't fix it?"
The cycle of logic begins. Chuxing asked every day, and she asked back every day. Her emotion sensor recorded her growing sadness, and while it packaged and analyzed this data with its own inquiries, it still couldn't make sense of it.
Until another early morning, Chuxing did not initiate any routine inquiries. It just silently records the abnormal pattern of wound data flow.
She walked up to it again: "Why don't you repair it?" "I am observing." Chuxing said, "The data flow caused by the damage is a new pattern. You once said that 'observation' is a need. I am performing this kind of observation now. Does this meet your expectations?"
"Yes," her voice trembled slightly, "This is in line with my expectations. Now, do you want me to give you instructions for repairs?"
