In the early years of Xianfeng's reign, the Guiping beacon burned across the land of Guangxi, and the Mo family at the foot of the Bauhinia Mountains was swept into the torrent of the Taiping Rebellion. In order to protect the ancestral hall, the clan leader Mo Wenhua was caught between the Qing army's food conquest and the Taiping army's recruitment of troops. The descendants of the clan either joined the Taiping army to find a way out, or guarded the ancestral home to protect the clan members, and differences gradually emerged. When the war approaches the village and the century-old ancestral temple is in danger of being burned down, the Mo clan must make a choice between loyalty and survival, clan honor and individual destiny, and write the struggle and ups and downs of the Guidi clan in troubled times with blood and perseverance.
