After Little Mustache Got a History Book from the Second Generation

After the Little Mustache Gets a History Book About World War II tells the story of history taking a radically different course. In the scorched-earth battlefields of Eastern Europe, an SS soldier stumbles upon a mysterious book documenting the entire course of World War II. Its accounts of the war’s progress, tactical blunders, and commanders’ decisions are terrifyingly precise. The book eventually falls into Hitler’s hands. The obsessive dictator treasures it as an “oracle” that can turn the tide of war and begins adjusting his strategy according to its advice: avoiding the trap of Moscow’s winter, strengthening the North African front in advance, and even predicting where the Allies will land.

At first, history really does seem to change. The German army advances fiercely, the Allies suffer defeat after defeat, and the Third Reich catches a glimpse of “victory.” But as reliance on the book grows, one strange change after another takes place. The writing on its pages mysteriously blurs, the Allies’ actions stray from the “script,” and the once-clear future begins to warp. With the “prophet” at his side, Hitler’s obsession and ambition grow ever greater. Meanwhile, Karl, a rank-and-file soldier who witnesses it all, realizes that this “divine book” is no salvation. It is more like a black hole swallowing reality. Every attempt to rewrite history triggers an increasingly uncontrollable backlash. When the book’s “right answers” collide with reality, and human manipulation clashes with the inertia of history, this gamble made in the name of “victory” is bound to end in a way no one can foresee.
