"Ghost Stories from Gucun Middle School" is the second of the author's five ghost stories.
Taking the summer of 2004 as the background, it revolves around the loose seal of the dry well under the Qing Dynasty Yamen historic site in Gucun Middle School.

The loose seal of the dry well triggered a series of supernatural events: a dead bird came towards the mouth of the well, strange comics were found in the schoolbag, and the female teacher Li Juan was frightened and had a miscarriage. The clues pointed to the old case of female teacher Lin Xiu falling into the well 20 years ago. The three of them gradually uncovered the truth - the caretaker Uncle Zhang was timid and failed to save Lin Xiu, who fell into a well while she was pregnant. The dry well was originally a "well of resentful souls" in the Qing Dynasty, and the stone ring needed a "bloody bucket, maternal hair, and baby clothes" to be resealed.
In the end, the three of them gathered the items, and Uncle Zhang knelt down to repent, successfully returning the stone to its place. At the end of the story, the supernatural incident subsided, and the three buried the box and agreed to reunite every year. Lin Xiu thanked them with brown sugar. In the summer of 2004, not only did the evil spirit be sealed, but they also witnessed the three teenagers quietly growing up in courage and redemption.
