The Sickly Young Master Is Putting on an Act Again

Gu Jin, the son of the wealthiest man in the capital, had been sickly since childhood. More than a dozen doctors had examined him, only to shake their heads and sigh. Then our shabby clinic was forced to take on this troublesome patient, and I went to treat him myself. The first time I took his pulse, I could tell it was steady and strong. He was putting on quite a convincing act. So I prescribed the bitterest medicine and used the most painful needles, just to see how long he could keep pretending. One night, in the pouring rain, I barged into his room, soaked to the skin, to deliver emergency medicine, only to see him leap nimbly down from the rafters. Our eyes met. He pulled me close and murmured, “Since you’ve discovered my secret...” “Why don’t we get married and keep pretending together?”
