The story begins in the late summer of 1993, starting from the life choices of Xie Siyuan, a poor rural boy in central China, and unfolds a magnificent picture of the ups and downs of personal destiny under the tide of the times.
When the college admission notice formed a cruel contrast with the reality of a poor family, 18-year-old Xie Siyuan stood at a crossroads in life. On one side is the journey to college and pure love represented by childhood sweetheart Lin Chunmei, on the other is the opportunities and real life in the south presented by working girl Wu Jufang. In the fierce collision between family burdens, social changes and personal ideals, this smart, tough and ruthless young man will make a choice that will affect his life.
It depicts the wave of migrant workers on the green train heading south, the ideal light of university campuses, the hardships and dangers of migrant workers, and the ups and downs of opportunities and challenges in the business world. The story spans several years, with the establishment of the market economy, the reform of state-owned enterprises, the influx of Hong Kong and Taiwan culture, the financial crisis and other signs of the times, profoundly showing the struggle, struggle and growth of a generation in the torrent of history.
It has created vivid group portraits of Xie Siyuan and his friends Li Yijian and Zhong Daming. Through the different life paths represented by the two female characters, the eternal propositions of ideals and reality, love and responsibility, persistence and change are explored.
It is not only a story about choice, but also an elegy for the times dedicated to the strivers of the 1990s. It tells us: There is no standard answer in life. Only by maintaining authenticity in the tide of the times and adhering to responsibility in difficult choices can we find our own way back and a new way.

Objective and true, close to real life, truly reflecting the impatience of poor farmers
It's gold that always shines
Real, awesome, five stars! ! ! It can be called the novel version of "Struggle".
Real and objective, derived from life, the language is fluent and exciting.
It's all caused by poverty. The author writes it very carefully and to the point. The only thing I didn't see was which province or region the author was writing about.
It's beautiful and the story is very realistic!
Well written, keep reading
