Li Zhengguang, the Northern Warlord

Centered on the struggle of human nature against the tides of the times, this novel follows Li Zhengguang from his birth in the frigid north in 1961 through a boyhood of sly mischief and a youth spent abandoning school to roam the underworld. After joining Qiao Si, he rises through Harbin's criminal underworld, only to flee to the capital and meet his eventual downfall. Against the backdrop of the mass migration to the Northeast and the early days of Reform and Opening Up, the story portrays his tortured choices between power, loyalty, and destruction, recreating the tragic tale of a kingpin steeped in snow and blood.
