In Shanghai in 1926, Su Manqing, a female doctor who had returned from studying abroad, opened a clinic in the concession. During a war, she rescued the Beiyang warlord Lu Tingyuan who was shot. Lu Tingyuan is domineering but not cruel, and Su Manqing is gentle but has character. In the troubled times where warlords are fighting and foreign enemies are coveting them, the two of them rescue the wounded and protect each other, becoming a glimmer of light in the turbulent era.
