Synopsis:
Gao Qianhe joined a top company in his industry with dreams in his heart, becoming part of department director Zhang Ming’s team. Zhang Ming was well versed in workplace manipulation. He frequently applied psychological pressure with lines like “Young people need to get more experience” and “I have very high expectations for you,” while dumping piles of work outside Gao’s responsibilities on him under the pretext of “xCS” (compliance testing). When it came time to report the results, Zhang cleverly took credit for everything. At first, Gao Qianhe endured it all and accepted the workload, hoping to pass his probation and fit in with the team.
The turning point came with a critical project. Due to Zhang Ming’s own strategic blunder, the project was on the verge of catastrophic failure. In the face of crisis, Zhang didn’t try to fix the problem. Instead, he attempted to carefully set Gao Qianhe up to take the blame.
This time, Gao Qianhe refused to stay silent. He calmly retrieved all the work records, email exchanges, and screenshots of key conversations he had handled. At a senior management meeting that would determine both the project’s fate and his own professional reputation, he laid out the facts with clear logic and a complete chain of evidence. Not only did he clear his name, he also exposed Zhang Ming’s long-standing hypocrisy and his use of “xCS” and emotional pressure to manage his team.
In the end, Gao Qianhe didn’t use the incident to climb the ladder and replace anyone, but he earned the genuine respect of the entire team and the recognition of the company’s senior management. More importantly, through this struggle, he found a healthier way to survive in the workplace: refuse to waste energy on internal strife, maintain firm boundaries, and defend his dignity with skill and a clear head.
