As a mythical beast whose eyes are open for day and eyes closed for night, the candle dragon's teardrops can be turned into "shadow tracing candles", allowing the holder to glimpse the past and present lives.
At the end of the war between gods and demons, Cang Ming climbed Buzhou Mountain to seek Zhulong's help in order to revive the human race. On the way, he rescued Xiye who was besieged by gods and demons.
Xiye brings Cangming to see Zhuyin (Zhong Xi). The three of them have complicated feelings as they get along: Xiye admires Zhuyin's strength and compassion, Zhuyin is attracted by Xiye's tenacity and uniqueness, and Cangming has a secret love for Xiye.
In order to help the human race, Zhuyin went against the will of heaven and was seriously injured. Before he died, a drop of tear fell into the candle Xiye was making and turned into the first "shadow-tracing candle".
In order to save Zhuyin, Xiye tried to reshape time with her own light and shadow spiritual roots, but was stopped by Cang Ming. Cang Ming chose to bear the backlash on her behalf, and his soul was shattered. Xiye finally used half of his soul to seal the shadow candle and jump into reincarnation.
