In the "Glorious Era", human technology and extraordinary power (called "psionic energy") developed in parallel, creating a splendid civilization. But thousands of years ago, a disaster called the "Great Annihilation" struck, cutting off the connection between the world and the "Ocean of Origin" of the universe. Spiritual energy was exhausted, and the bloodline of extraordinary beings was cut off. The surviving civilization is lingering on the ruins, and its technology has fallen from generation to generation, regressing to a level similar to steampunk.
