The Body of Ice and Fire

Leng Yan bears the martial world’s forbidden constitution, “Ice and Fire as One,” with two utterly conflicting forms of true energy flowing through him from birth. The world cannot tolerate this unusual gift. The orthodox sects regard him as a menace that must be eliminated, while the unorthodox factions covet his terrifying destructive power and seek to forge him into a weapon. Caught between both sides, Leng Yan flees for his life and eventually takes refuge in the perilous depths of Nanming Lake, a forbidden land where a volcano meets a thousand-year-old frozen pool. At the border of this icy, fiery hell, he makes his body a furnace and his life the fuel, enduring day after day the agony of frozen veins and scorched organs as he searches desperately for a path to balance between life and death. A near-fatal failure almost destroys all his meridians, but it also unexpectedly opens the way to rebirth. With the help of strange crystals born of the volcano and primordial ice from the depths of the frozen pool, he rebuilds his meridians and sees through the surface appearance of ice and fire opposing each other to the truth beneath: they share the same origin, endlessly cycling and renewing themselves. When he emerges from the forbidden land, transformed and carrying newfound power, a deadly trap carefully laid by both orthodox and unorthodox factions awaits him... On this path, only by wielding ice and fire as blades can he cut a way of his own.
