The Marquis’s Legitimate Daughter Returns to the Capital

Just after Shen Weiwan returns from Jiangnan to the Marquis of Loyalty and Valor’s residence, her stepmother, Madam Su, sets her up. At the Mid-Autumn banquet, Madam Su deliberately makes her perform so she’ll embarrass herself and lose face before the noblewomen of the capital! But when Weiwan settles down with her guqin and plays “Autumn River, Night Mooring,” the whole room is stunned. Even her usually distant father praises her: “My daughter is truly talented.” Madam Su’s face turns green!

From a Jiangnan orphan whom anyone could bully to the legitimate daughter who can take charge of the marquis’s household and sway opinion in the capital, Shen Weiwan carves out her own path through household rivalries and the undercurrents of court politics with her medical skills, intelligence, and grit. In the end, she not only protects her family, but also finds lasting peace for herself alongside Xiao Jingyuan.
