The male protagonist Lin Feng (modern name, height 188cm, former special forces soldier and historian) was transported to the fictional dynasty "Dayong" similar to the Tang Dynasty due to a laboratory explosion.
The Dayong Dynasty regarded fatness as beauty (women were respected for plumpness, and women weighing less than 75 kilograms were considered ugly), and the country was governed by force (military aristocrats monopolized power). The imperial examination was in its infancy but was suppressed by aristocratic families.
The heroine Su Qingyue (Soul Piercer) is ostracized by society because of her modern slim body shape (height 165cm, weight 50kg). Although she comes from a middle-class aristocratic family, she is ridiculed by her peers for her "ugly appearance", and her parents are worried about her marriage.
