A letter from his ancestral home, a mysterious mountain village called Wuyin Village, disrupts his peaceful life. It mentions that strange incidents have been happening in the village lately. The ancient legend of the "soul-returning lamp" has resurfaced, several villagers have mysteriously disappeared, and everyone is in a state of panic.

The village elders are wary of the outside world, while the younger people are eager to escape. As his investigation deepens, Su Mu discovers that these strange incidents are closely linked to a long-buried chapter in his family's past. The "rules" that villagers hold sacred seem to be the key to maintaining a balance between the village and some unknown force.

As reason and supernatural phenomena intertwine, Su Mu must use his meticulous mind and a reporter's keen instincts to clear away the layers of fog and uncover the eerie truth shrouding Wuyin Village. Can he find a way to survive between ancient taboos and modern science, prevent tragedy from repeating, and ultimately unravel his family's fate?
