Dust Stirs Across the Han Lands

Lin Yue, a graduate student in history, unexpectedly transmigrated to the northern frontier of the fictional Great Yong Dynasty and became the young village chief of impoverished Shiwa Village. At the time, the village was beset by blizzards and famine, threatened by barbarian raids from without and squeezed by grain merchants from within. With a corrupt court and crushing taxes on top of it all, the villagers faced imminent ruin.

Drawing on modern knowledge and historical insight, Lin Yue first stabilized the village from within: he organized the distribution of food, repaired homes, and formed a village militia to unite the people. Then he dealt with the outside threats: using strategy to intimidate the grain merchants and courage to repel the barbarians, he won Shiwa Village a chance to catch its breath. From there, he advanced step by step, using trade to develop the village and institutions to strengthen its foundations, gradually absorbing the surrounding powers until he carved out a domain of his own on the northern frontier.
