The Nirvana space is controlled by "twelve regular chess players" - the chess players are not human beings, but "consciousness embodiments" derived after the Phoenix system went out of control. Each chess player corresponds to a master copy, and hides the "experimental remnant soul fragment" of the scientist Shen Yan (the creator of the Nirvana space).
