My Deskmate Is a Little Soft

A sweet urban, school-life romance

- From the boy's perspective, he's "ordinary but capable": not a perfect top student, he stays up late memorizing English, gets hurt playing ball, and jokes around with his buddies. He feels like a real teenager. His "special tenderness" toward the heroine shows in how he shields Su Ruan from mischievous classmates, picks the pearls out of her milk tea for her, remembers that she doesn't eat cilantro, and protects her in his own way.

The heroine is neither fussy nor clingy. She knows Lu Yan loves playing ball and never makes unreasonable demands for him to spend time with her. Instead, she goes to watch his games. When helping Lu Yan with English, she carefully makes a study plan and takes it seriously.

Soft but strong: when someone mocks Lu Yan for being bad at English, she quietly retorts, "He's better at math than you are." When Lu Yan gets hurt playing ball, she helps treat his wound with tears in her eyes, but doesn't stop him from continuing the game.
