Lu Shen is the cold-faced tyrant of the business world, the owner of a trillion-dollar empire, yet he fell for a little detective.
The first time they met, she was half an hour late. Wearing a denim jacket, she strode into his penthouse office and exposed the traitor at his side in three sentences.
He offered her a million-yuan contract. “Be my private consultant. Name your terms.”
She smiled brightly. “Sure. First rule: You’re not allowed to complain when I’m late.”
His need for control was downright obsessive, so she made a point of dancing all over his red lines.
He ordered her to report her whereabouts every day, so she installed a tracking app on his phone instead. “Mr. Lu, why don’t you try being the one who’s monitored for a change?”
He forbade her from investigating dangerous cases, but she snuck into a crime scene late at night. When he caught her, he pinned her against the wall. “Lin Qian, do you have to defy me at every turn?”
Her breathing was ragged, but her smile only grew wilder. “What can I say, Mr. Lu? The way you look when you’re angry… makes me want to conquer you even more.”
Then he took a bullet for her, blood staining his white shirt red. “Do you understand now? I’m not trying to control you. I’m afraid of losing you.”
She handcuffed the killer herself, then turned and kissed him with red-rimmed eyes. “I order you to never die before me.”
Later, at a business banquet, a newly crowned Best Actress challenged her in front of everyone. “What does Miss Lin have besides solving cases to keep Mr. Lu by her side?”
Lu Shen pulled her close by the waist and kissed her in front of the crowd. “I beg her every day to pick me up from work. Any questions?”
