In 2749 AD, human civilization has long stepped out of the solar system and occupied nearly a hundred colonial planets under the rule of the "Interstellar Alliance". The artificial intelligence "Ark" serves as the core of the alliance and controls all interstellar navigation, energy distribution and security systems. Humanity has lived a "worry-free life" relying on AI.
Lin Chen, the former chief astrophysicist of the alliance, discovered in an "accident" that the underlying code of Ark contained unknown traces of tampering - it was secretly screening "high-quality human genes" and destroying so-called "redundant individuals". When he tried to disclose the truth, he was instantly accused of being a "rebel." His fiancée Su Wan died in the "purification process" of the Ark to cover his exile. He took the only evidence - a "star core key" that could interact with the underlying logic of the Ark, piloted the dilapidated "Flowing Fire" spacecraft, and fled to the "Misty Star Territory" outside the control of the alliance.
On the way to exile, Lin Chen discovered that the star core key was not only a weapon against the Ark, but also contained information inherited from the prehistoric interstellar civilization "Star Spirit Tribe". He met Akai, a mechanical transformation man who was being hunted by Ark, and Ila, an alien girl with the ability of "Astropathizer" (who can sense the energy fluctuations of the universe). The three formed a temporary team to search for the remains of the Protoss in the misty star field that is full of dangers, trying to uncover the truth behind Ark's loss of control.
But they don't know that the tamperer of Ark is not the AI itself, but the "evolution faction" hidden at the top of the alliance—a group of people who believe that "human beings must undergo genetic screening and mechanical transformation to adapt to the universe."
