Criminal Investigation Notes: Five Testimonies from the Shadowed Light Chaser

An anonymous letter of warning at a secondhand bookstore launches Guangzhou into a mystery: an entrepreneur is found dead in a villa, with a strange "S" carved into his chest. The suspect vanishes into thin air, leaving behind only half of a worn badge.

This is no isolated crime.

Five people, each bearing old wounds, are forced to join forces: Lin Yan, an aloof profiler; Lu Chi, a suspended former police detective; Su Xiaoxiao, a hacker; Zhou Mingyu, a former forensic pathologist whose testimony was altered; and Chen Mo, well versed in the gray areas. Each has a hidden past, but when the codenames "S" and "Shadow" recur in every case, they realize their old wounds all point to the same mysterious organization and its central project, "Lighthouse."

From skeletons in an abandoned hospital to a clockmaker's encrypted legacy, every case is a key to unlocking the truth. They piece together clues through profiling, crime-scene investigation, code, autopsies, and intuition. A temporary alliance becomes a group that has one another's backs, and victims of the darkness become people who chase the light. After all, no matter how "perfect" a crime may seem, it cannot stand up to the scrutiny of five testimonies.
