Moonlight over the Soy Sauce Shop, 1984

A beautiful love is a journey of cleansing the grime from the folds of the soul.

In the early days of reform and opening up, economic growth was shaking the old divide between city and countryside. Jing, a young woman from the city, fell in love with Wu Yong, a young man from the countryside. Their love was bound to be difficult and full of twists and turns. The tides of a new era swept away the barriers between urban and rural life, while social classes were reshaped amid upheaval and change.

Wu Yong and Zijing, two young people from the city and the countryside, endured obstruction, humiliation, and separation, yet remained true to each other and finally came together.
