Synopsis of Starlight in Your Eyes:
A late-summer breeze carries the scent of camphor trees. Su Nian, a sweet and shy new student in the School of Literature, gets lost and crashes straight into the world of Lu Xingci, a top student in the computer science department.
She is a little ray of sunshine who carries a sketchbook and hides her feelings in the corners of her drawings. But the mint candy he offers her gives her a taste of something sweet and stirring. He is a campus legend, cool on the outside and warm within. He sweats it out on the basketball court and thinks with precision in the world of code, yet quietly gives her hints when she is nervous and leaves an umbrella for her when she gets caught in the rain.
From the subtle distance between classmates in a general education course to stolen glances beneath the plane trees; from a tentative invitation on New Year’s Eve to a promise sealed with a lovers’ lock at the wishing wall. They study side by side under the library lights, exchange knowing glances amid the crowd at an art exhibition, and hold tight to each other amid the bustle of graduation season.
People say he is too cold and aloof. Only she knows his tenderness is hidden in a bowl of hot porridge made late at night, in the unspoken words “I’ll wait for you,” and in every step from school uniforms to wedding dresses.
“Lu Xingci, look, the starlight has fallen into my painting.”
“No,” he says, lowering his head to kiss the crown of her hair. “The starlight has fallen into your eyes, and you have fallen into my heart.”
This is a story of young love and two people choosing each other. From their first meeting at summer’s end to a lifetime together, they use their youth to prove that the best kind of love helps each person become a brighter version of themselves, and then turns the spark they felt on campus into a sweetness that lasts a lifetime.
