I Could Understand Animals from the Start, and This Unlucky Guy Became the Police Force's Lucky Charm

Lin Mo, an ordinary office worker, accidentally stumbles upon a crime scene in a dark alley late at night. After being murdered to silence him, he is reborn three days before the crime. He thinks he’s been given a second chance at life, but then discovers he’s been saddled with a bizarre “bad luck constitution”: flowerpots fall on him as he walks, he runs into knife-wielding robbers while grocery shopping, and he hooks human remains while fishing. Even a trip to the temple to pray for good fortune leads him to stumble upon a human-trafficking ring. Stranger still, along with this string of misfortunes, he unexpectedly gains the ability to understand animals. From the moment the black cat Xuanying saves him, Lin Mo’s life is turned upside down. Forced to become a “regular” at the police station, he uses the intelligence network he has built with the city’s animals to help the police solve one bizarre case after another. A gang of stray dogs, pigeon scouts, an underground rat intelligence unit... More and more animals become his eyes and ears, helping him go from prime suspect to the police’s “special consultant.” But as the investigation deepens, Lin Mo discovers that every case is connected to a chemical plant explosion twenty years ago, and that a secret organization marked with a mysterious claw-print symbol is manipulating everything from the shadows. His rebirth was no coincidence, and the awakening of his ability has a deeper purpose. Caught between the suspicions and cooperation of beautiful police officer Su Yuqing, and supported by his loyal animal companions, Lin Mo must uncover the vast conspiracy lurking in the shadows of the city while learning to control his special ability. This is an urban adventure blending rebirth, fantasy, mystery, and comedy. It tells the story of how one unlucky man turns his fortunes around and becomes the police force’s lucky charm, and follows an ordinary nobody as he grows into a hero who protects the city’s peace against an extraordinary fate.
