The Last Swordsman Family

"The Last Swordsman" takes the failure of the Reform Movement of 1898 in the 24th year of Guangxu's reign (1898) as the historical background and tells the journey of Liu Hu, the seventh generation descendant of the Guanshan Sword. The Blood Eagle Guards raided Daoji Ridge. Before his death, his father Liu Zhenshan entrusted the ancestral Guanshan sword to him, revealing the centuries-old feud between the swordsman family and the Qing court. Young Liu Hu carries his father's death and embarks on the road of revenge. With the help of the mysterious woman Xue Wanqing, he meets Long Er, the leader of the Yellow River Gang, and forms a brotherly alliance to fight against the pursuit of the Blood Eagle Guard. The three people traveled across Shaanxi and Henan, from the turmoil at the Yellow River Ferry to the mystery of the ghost market, from the bodyguards at Heifengkou to the corpse transformation in Yizhuang, and exposed the conspiracy of Governor Sheng Yun in collusion with the Nether Sect in life and death tests. Liu Hu obtained the true biography of the swordsman in the ancient tomb and made a blood oath to revive the swordsman family, but he suffered a fatal blow from Long Er's rebellion. Finally, in the decisive battle at Zhongnan Mountain, Xue Wanqing's shocking life experience as Sheng Yun's illegitimate daughter was revealed, and her transformation from a revengeful boy to the successor of the swordsman was completed. The work deeply integrates the historical events of the late Qing Dynasty, using the real historical background of the Reform Movement of 1898, the Boxer Rebellion, and the Eight-Power Allied Forces' invasion of China, to show the choices made by the swordsmen group in the torrent of the times. Through the rise and fall of the four great swordsman families, we explore the conflict between traditional Jianghu morality and modern rule of law, and the dialectics between personal destiny and the righteousness of the family and the country. The novel strictly examines the historical details of the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, and makes extensive use of Jianghu jargon and green forest rules. It conveys the chivalrous spirit of "Thousands of people will die" in the happy grudges, and composes an elegy of Jianghu in the light of swords and blood.
