[Rule Horror] [Mystery] [No Female Lead]
When Rule Horror invades the modern world, familiar childhood cartoon settings become deadly dungeons, and Gu Yan, a transmigrator, becomes one of the chosen challengers. In his previous life, he was a student of animation screenwriting, and his frame-by-frame understanding of childhood cartoons becomes his only lifeline in the world of horrors. His “Hyperdimensional Animation Analysis Eye” lets him see the links between a dungeon and its original work, predict the monsters’ behavior, and even perfectly inhabit a character’s identity.
Starting in the twisted waters of Bikini Bottom, he finds a rule card in Squidward’s gloomy apartment, encounters a Mr. Krabs corrupted by greed at the Krusty Krab, and glimpses the native programming logic of the horror world in the jellyfish fields. Other challengers fall one after another because of their flawed understanding, but Gu Yan draws on his grasp of the cartoons’ underlying logic to seek a way to survive the collision between “innocent childhood memories” and “the cruel reality of horror.”
As he clears more and more dungeons, he must face not only the horrors warped from characters like Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf, but also investigate the “System permissions” behind the horrors and the unknown will that lurks beyond them. When he discovers that the author of the original work behind the dungeon is trapped inside too, should he save the creator and bring the horrors to an end, or preserve his advantage and maintain control? Every choice Gu Yan makes reshapes the balance between two worlds.
